Weight Loss through Drinking Water

Clinical studies have proven the benefits of drinking water to lose weight. Any successful weight-loss program includes factors such as healthy eating, regular exercise and stress management. Drinking water is foundational to each of these factors. Water is involved in every function in the human body. It helps in the flow of lymph and blood through the body, the transfer of nutrients to the cells and tissues, the removal of wastes out of the cells, the balance of hormones and the regulation of metabolism etc.

One of the proven benefits of drinking water to lose weight is that it increases the metabolic rate in the body. Thus, the higher one’s metabolism, the more quickly calories are burned. Every time we drink about 16 ounces of water, our body will burn calories at a higher rate for at least an hour afterwards. The researchers concluded that a person who increases water intake by 1.5 liters a day would burn about an extra 17,400 calories a year. This equates to about a five-pound weight loss for most people.

Every diet program should include drinking water to lose weight and increase calorie burning. Every part of our body is made up of cells. Protoplasm, the basic material of living cells, is made of fats, carbohydrates, proteins, salts, and similar elements combined with water. Water acts as a solvent, transporting, combining and chemically breaking down these substances. There is no magic secret to drinking water and weight loss. Water is essential for every function of the body and to any weight management program.

Drinking water helps us to quick weight loss by suppressing our appetite because we feel fuller. The better rule is to drink water according to our body weight in ounces. If we weigh 120 pounds, we should drink 120 ounces per day. Within a short time, our body will notice the difference. We will be eating less. Water keeps our stomach and cells occupied and we do not feel so hungry. The solution to lose weight at least a few extra pounds sounds easy. One should start with two glasses of water in the morning. It should be before we drink coffee or eat our breakfast. One should try to drink some water regularly during the day. One should also eat more water dense foods.
